Green My School
March 14, 2009
We’ve been involved with the “Green My School” contest that CBS and EcoMedia have been running the last few months, as schools in the San Francisco, Chicago and Miami areas entered to win a $100,000 green makeover.
The purpose of the program is to create a model “green” school within each area that other schools in the district, city and state can use to move forward sustainability initiatives.
Rosa Parks Elementary was named the grand prize winner for the San Francisco area. The students, teachers and admin worked very hard on their entry…and this school has a great story behind it.
They’ll become one of the model schools for others to look to regarding being a green leader in the educational sector.
When EcoMedia asked us at AusPen to get involved, we immediately loved the idea.
All the winning schools will be fully outfitted with our AusPen eco-friendly markers, which means they won’t throw away any more disposable markers made from PVC-plastic, as well the classrooms will have significantly reduced levels of toxicity by using the AusPen markers (our ink doesn’t use the chemical Xylene).
Congrats to Rosa Parks Elementary for such a great job on their contest entry (I saw it and it was impressive).
We’ll keep you updated on the other two schools who are chosen as grand prize winners.
